And Jesus said, "Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." (Matthew 19:14)
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to catechesis through which the youngest children may build deep, lifelong relationships with Christ and His Church. Originating in Rome in the 1950s, CGS uses a rich Montessori approach to engage children in age-appropriate, tactile materials, rooted in Sacred Scripture and the Liturgy.
The children enter a prepared environment called an atrium where they are assisted at nurturing their relationship with the Good Shepherd. Children are invited to use the various works provided in the atrium to encounter the Good Shepherd on their own. The atrium is a quiet and peaceful place where young children can pray and ponder the deep mysteries of the Faith.
St. Peter's atrium is open to three to six year old children and can be accessed via the 18th Avenue entrance (Office entrance). Children must be aged three, and be fully toilet-trained as CGS catechists are not permitted to assist children with toiletting.
Registration for the year is $100 per child; fees are payable by check to St. Peter Catholic church with CGS in the memo line. To submit a registration, please complete the registration form below. If you have any questions, please feel free to send an email to [email protected].
