Holy Thursday is also known as Maundy Thursday. The word maundy comes from the Latin word mandatum (commandment). “I give you a new commandment: Love one another as I have loved you.” (John 13:34) These are the words spoken by our Lord to His apostles at the Last Supper, after He completed the washing of the feet. On this beautiful feast day let us remember with gratefulness the gifts of the Priesthood, the institution of the Most Holy Eucharist and the call to be a servant to all through the reminder of the washing of the feet. After the prayer of Communion a procession is formed and the Most Blessed Sacrament is carried through the church to a place of repose.
