Funeral Hospitality Guild
When a death occurs in the parish, the family is at one of their most vulnerable times and it is a chance to minister to them. Providing a lunch following the funeral is an opportunity to give some measure of comfort and support to families that speaks to the value of being a part of a parish community. Our committee exists to serve the needs of our parishioners, their family and friends by providing this service. Sometimes this can be a variety of breads, cookies and desserts plus beverages or a full meal of main dish, salads, breads and desserts. This service is available to the families and friends of parishioners at no charge. To do this we rely on the generosity of parish families to volunteer in several capacities. Help is needed beforehand for set up and refreshing the kitchen area and meeting room. We also need donations of homemade food for the family and friends of the deceased and volunteers to serve after the service itself. Clean up is usually simple but again requires a few to make sure the meeting area is ready for the next event.
There is a phone calling list to coordinate the donation of the food and services. Names are rotated throughout the year so the same group of people is not responsible every time for each service. We feel it’s a privilege to be of service at such a difficult time. Please consider this ministry as a valuable contribution to the life of the parish. We are grateful to have such committed people who serve in this capacity as the need arises. THANK YOU!
We are always in need of volunteers to serve in any of the several ways you can be the hands of Jesus.
